Nine industry leaders honored for packaging innovation

Representatives from some of the most innovative packaging companies in the beauty industry gathered Tuesday evening, September 15, at the HBA Global Expo, held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York City, to learn which of the hundreds of entries that had been submitted had been selected for the prestigious International Package Design Awards (IPDA).

Tom Branna VP/editorial director of Rodman Publishing announced the coveted awards from the booth shared by Happi and Beauty Packaging magazines, which sponsored the event—and partnered with HBA Global Expo.

Who selects the IPDA winners? HBA’s committee of 100 industry executives reviewed all entries and chose four finalists in each of nine categories, based on originality, design concept, creative use of materials, components and decorating processes, technical competency and effective brand messaging. The finalists were then presented to independent designers who selected a leading package in each category, as well as the Package of the Year. Following is a look at this year’s winning packages, along with photos of some of the winners and finalists present at the festivities.
